2025-26 Information

When a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is submitted, the processor analyzes the application information using a federal formula to calculate the Student Aid Index (SAI). An Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) is sent to each college listed on the FAFSA. The student will receive a FAFSA Submission Summary e-mail or a paper FAFSA Submission Summary, depending on the type of FAFSA filed and whether the applicant's e-mail address was provided on the FAFSA.

  • A FAFSA Submission Summary e-mail is sent to the applicant within 3-5 days of processing an online FAFSA, or from the date a paper/PDF FAFSA is received, if the student provides an e-mail address and has an SSN Match Flag Results value of 4 (full match) – the summary provides an encrypted web address for the student to access and print their summary data; or
  • A paper FAFSA Submission Summary is mailed to all FAFSA applicants (online or paper/PDF) within three weeks if an e-mail address is not provided.

Each type of the output document summarizes the data that was provided on the FAFSA. The primary purpose of the FAFSA Submission Summary is to report the SAI, which is determined using a federal formula. The postsecondary school must receive the student's information in order for the student to receive federal financial aid at that school. The student does not need to take or send the FAFSA Submission Summary to a postsecondary school that already received the student's SAI and FAFSA information electronically via the ISIR. Refer to the 2025-26 Pell Eligibility and SAI GuideVolume 6 – ISIR Guide of the 2025-26 FAFSA Specifications Guide, for more information.

The FAFSA Submission Summary is provided in English or Spanish, depending on the language used on the application or correction that generates the summary. The summary will not include federal tax information data.

Unless the student's FAFSA has been rejected, the SAI is printed in the upper right corner of the front page of output documentation. In addition, there is a "College Use Only" section, and a "Federal Student Loan Summary" section (if the student has not had any previous federal student aid, this section will be blank).
